Tootgarook dredging wraps up

Dredging

Dredging at Tootgarook/Capel Sound boat ramp is now complete, Better Boating Victoria (BBV) said.

The work is undertaken annually due to high levels of sand movement in the area. Sand is removed and trucked back above the high watermark to replenish the beach, said BBV.

With dredging complete, marker buoys recently damaged by storms will be replaced in coming weeks to ensure boaters can safely navigate to deeper water.

“It’s one of 7 locations we recently announced would benefit from funding to conduct or plan dredging including four on this side of the bay,” said BBV.

These include nearby Anthony’s Nose and Kananook Creek while Mornington Peninsula Shire will dredge one of its ramps following detailed underwater surveys
