Storm events and tidal inundation is causing significant erosion of the area, which would impact the Grand Parade within five years at the current rate of erosion.

These works are being undertaken to ensure the stability of the area and protect the foreshore from further erosion while a long-term management plan is being established.

The work involves the transportation of sand from Kyeemagh to Brighton Le Sands and Dolls Point to Ramsgate.

According to the Council, the operations will require the closure of small areas of beach, which will be gated to ensure the safety of the public.

The job is being done on Crown Land with significant funding from the NSW Government.
