The Sand Transfer Plant moves frequently accumulating sand from the Town of Palm Beach Shores (north side of the Palm Beach inlet) to the Town of Palm Beach (south side of the Palm Beach inlet).

The group gathered to discuss multiple projects and programs within the county, related to ecosystem restoration, navigation, coastal storm risk management, and regulatory permits.

An inlet management plan with the state said that about 202,000 cubic yards of sand annually should bypass the inlet or be removed by either the Sand Transfer Plant or maintenance dredging.

The Town owns the Transfer Plant, but the County operates it through its bridge and dredge department.
