Dredging the lake is necessary to remove accumulated sediment, which reduces the lake’s water level and increases water temperature and the growth of harmful algae blooms.

Higher water levels make it easier to maintain a healthy habitat for fish.

According to the City of Overland Park, Kansas Government, the lake’s fish have been temporarily relocated to a new home in another beautiful Overland Park lake.

Dredging work at the lake will begin this Fall.
