EXCLUSIVE: Jan De Nul signs Anaklia Port deal

Jan De Nul and the Georgian government have signed an agreement for the construction of marine infrastructure within the framework of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.

The signing ceremony was held at the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development two days ago.

Zurab Sichinava, Director General of the Anaklia Sea Port LLC, and Tim Devolder, Jan De Nul’s Regional Manager in Central Asia, signed the document.

Anaklia deep-water port is a strategic project for Georgia, which will play an important role in the development of the port infrastructure of the country, as well as in the infrastructural improvement of the entire middle corridor and increase of competitiveness,” the Economy Ministry said in its official release.

According to the Ministry, in 2029, the country will be able to receive the first ships in the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and increase the cargo flow through the transport and logistics infrastructure of Georgia.

Also, the capacity of the port at the first phase will be 600.000 containers per year.
