The team has added 1.29 million cubic yards of dredged sand to strengthen beach resilience to storm and erosion impacts.

The team continues with dune vegetation planting, fencing and crossover repairs, and projects complete demobilization by the end of August. Staging areas in Abbey Hanna Park and at 16th Ave. So. will remain active until then,” said USACE in the update.

The $32.4 million project will reinforce critically eroded beach within the municipalities of Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach and Jacksonville Beach, extending from the St. Johns River to the Duval-St. Johns Co. line.

The project has been 100 percent federally funded through Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies monies.
