Dredging

Boskalis has just released this amazing photo from their recent dredging project in Antwerp.

As dredging professionals, we protect coastal areas, construct ports and waterways and reclaim land using our specialized vessels. To this end, we often dredge large volumes of sand, clay and silt and in most instances our vessels have quite some room to maneuver to carry out their work, but there are exceptions,” said Boskalis.

A recent example is the dredging work by the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Strandway in the Port of Antwerp.

For the redevelopment of the Europa Terminal, a project being carried out by Boskalis and partners Artes Group and HERBOSCH-KIERE, the TSHD had to fill the area along the quay with sand.

According to Boskalis, this work was executed with extreme precision because the available room to maneuver in the port area – which remains accessible to shipping traffic during the work – was very limited.
