In 2020, severe storms caused significant coastal erosion and damage to the breakwater, which exposed underlying asbestos material.

This crucial upgrade, a promise from the 2024-25 budget, is set to repair storm damage and remove asbestos.

Today, I visited the Reserve to announce the funding with Lake Macquarie Councillor, Adam Shultz,” said Swansea MP Yasmin Catley.

“We’re both extremely proud to see our community’s needs being met with real action.”

Construction work will kick off in early 2025 and the project should take four to five months, said the officials.
