According to the Town, the contractor (Ahtna Marine Construction Corporation) has constructed the pipeline North towards Bowditch Park and is now pumping the sand from the Gulf onto the beach at 100 Estero Blvd.

The project will place some 950,000 cubic yards of sand from the Gulf to nourish approximately 6.5 miles of critically eroded shoreline along Forth Myers Beach.

The work also includes installation of dune vegetation in accordance with the Town’s Dune Management Plan.

This renourishment project – expected to last 6 months – is funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Lee County Tourism Development Council, and the Town of Fort Myers Beach.
