Dredging commenced in August 2023 and continued until November 2023, after which it was paused to allow for recovery of seagrass and avoid the peak occupancy period of the Lucky Bay shack settlement.

Maritime Constructions continued the 2024 dredging campaign this spring and completed the works in late July.

During the works, approximately 80,000 m3 of materials was dredged from the Lucky Bay and dewatered at two on-land sites adjacent the harbor.

Material that is suitable for future beach nourishment has been stockpiled for this purpose, the rest of the material that is not suitable for disposal at the former quarry site will be taken to a licensed landfill.
