Sand is currently being dredged and placed along the existing beach to restore and repair the area previously damaged by Hurricane Ida.

This collaborative effort between Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and the Town of Grand Isle aims to enhance storm protection to the area by restoring 4 miles of beach and raising the dunes to 13.5 ft tall.

The $48.3 million Grand Isle contract was awarded to Callan Marine on August 18, 2023. The work commenced in late 2023 with anticipated completion in October 2024.
