This project, commissioned by De Boer – Dutch Dredging, marks the beginning of what is expected to be a long term collaboration in Asia, said Royal IHC.

Commenting the latest news, Royal IHC CEO, Derk te Bokkel, said: “We can maintain high quality standards with lower labor and energy costs in Vietnam, while using our Dutch shipyards for shorter construction times. Our clients will benefit from this strategic flexibility.”

Nam Trieu will essentially serve as IHC’s overseas yard, providing consistency and expertise in shipbuilding process.

Having a dedicated, experienced yard that is aligned with our operational standards is crucial for long-term success,” added Te Bokkel.

“With 700-800 skilled local workers at Nam Trieu, equipment supplied from the Netherlands and a dedicated Dutch team overseeing the project, we believe this will provide an effective blend of international resources and expertise.”
