Following consultation in 2021 and planning permission granted in 2022, work on this scheme started in late January 2023.

The project included usage of rock armour to build a T-shape rock groyne that will reduce beach erosion and minimise the impact of stormy weather and associated coastal flooding.

The company also imported large quantities of shingle to replenish the beach in order to protect the existing stepped defences, the promenade, and the infrastructure behind it.

The work was 85% funded through the Welsh Government’s Coast Risk Management Programme, with Conwy County Borough Council providing the remaining 15%.
