The vessels are being transported to Burgas where they will be working for the Burgas Capital Dredging project.

According to Robert Li from Van Oord, due to the challenging period of execution, the project made the decision to change the loading location from Mukran, Germany to a sheltered fjord in Aabenraa, Denmark. This resulted in a perfect workable weather window for the loading operation.

The load-out operation went very smooth thanks to good preparations, working together with knowledgeable people and chartering the right supporting vessels with a high workability and maneuvering capacity,” said Robert Li.

Cosmos Van Oord, a joint venture of Cosmos Shipping and Van Oord, won the Burgas dredging contract last fall. Van Oord’s scope of work includes dredging the port area to the required depth of 15.5 meters.

In total, approximately 1.5 million cubic meters of clay will be dredged with the backhoe dredger Simson before the end of 2024.
