With this dredging vessel, Boskalis – in a joint venture with Baggerbedrijf De Boer B.V. and Dutch Dredging – is deepening the Suriname River to make the Port of Paramaribo more accessible to larger vessels.

By facilitating this waterborne transport, Suriname aims to further grow its economy, according to the Dutch dredging giant.

“To indicate the importance of this project to Suriname, president Santokhi and minister Riad Nurmohamed visited the Crestway where our colleagues explained them all about the project,” said Boskalis.

A 68-kilometer-long stretch of the 480-kilometer-long Suriname River, that originates in the Amazon region and ends in Paramaribo, is being deepened and will be kept at the required depth during the following two years by the joint venture.
