Grand Isle breakwaters work nears end

Work on the Grand Isle BBA-18 project is nearing its completion as contractors are placing stone along the tie-in at the west jetty.

According to USACE, this project was funded through the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (BBA-18).

Under this program, six offshore stone segmented breakwaters were constructed along the gulf-side western end of the island.

The proposed work is located on the gulf coast of southern Jefferson Parish. It is about 50 miles south of New Orleans and 45 miles northwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
