TSHD Albatros wraps up CentrePort dredging scheme

Operations & Maintenance

Baggerbedrijf de Boer B.V. – Dutch Dredging has successfully completed another maintenance dredging project in New Zealand.

CentrePort

The company’s hopper dredger Albatros today departed CentrePort Ltd after a very successful berth pocket maintenance work program. The project, which started in mid-April, was completed safely, on time and on budget.

During her stay, the Albatros increased maximum drafts at the Thorndon Container Wharf (TCW), Aotea Quay (AQ1) and the Seaview (Oil Terminal ) berths.

According to CentrePort, the company now can offer a 12 metre draft at TCW, a 11.2m draft at AQ1, and 11.5m at Seaview.

These wharves play vital roles for CentrePort and its importers/exporters: Aotea Quay facilitates the movement of bulk cargoes such as logs and vehicles; Thorndon Wharf, home to CentrePort’s two large ship-to-shore cranes, allows the movement of shipping containers; and Seaview is where fuel for the lower North Island is offloaded.
