The trailer suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Modi R was spotted yesterday as she made her way into Geraldton Port.
The dredger – mobilized from Fremantle earlier this week – to be used during the upcoming Geraldton maintenance dredging project.
Contractor RN Dredging Pty Ltd has been appointed, while Bhagwan Marine and DM Civil will support the project.
The 2021 Maintenance Dredge Project will remove naturally accumulated sediments from within the inner harbour of Geraldton Port and southern navigational channel.
Two beneficial re-uses have been selected for the sediments, with those removed from the inner harbour placed into the Berth 7 land reclamation area and sediments from the navigational channel placed into the natural system at a designated nearshore placement area adjacent to Bluff Point.
