The Marine Group’s Harbour Management Division has now expanded its dredging capabilities with the recent completion of their bespoke built Water Injection’ dredger, CMS Seaka.

CMS Seaka in Burry Port/Marine Group

Having conducted sea trials off Cardiff in recent weeks, CMS Seaka has now arrived at Burry Port.

According to the company, the vessel is currently performing technical trials within the harbour and showing solid and measurable progress.

CMS Seaka picks up the baton from CMS Innovation. This is the smaller water injection dredger that has been working at Burry Port through the summer months.

The new vessel is a significantly more powerful, highly efficient machine that adopts the same environmentally friendly water injection technology. It is capable of dredging up to 450 m3 of silt per hour.

The technical trials are showing great promise and the operational team are confident in the approach.

After the trials, in November, the port will dismantle some of the pontoon legs to allow for a more aggressive dredging. This will facilitate the repair of some of the damaged harbour infrastructure.
