The City of Port Phillip and Parks Victoria have just announced that Brighton Harbor Main (Eastern) Entrance Channel Maintenance Dredging project is about to begin in the next couple of days.

According to the notice, dredging of the harbor main entrance channel will be carried out with a cutter suction dredge.

Dredged material removed during the works will be deposited on an adjacent beach for renourishment.

The officials also said that there will be restricted vessel access to the eastern (central) section of Brighton Harbor from Monday-Friday for the duration of the works. The western entrance to the main part of the Brighton marina will remain unaffected.

They expect that the channel will be dredged and widened by the beginning of December making it ready for the regattas both National and International.
