Jenkins Marine of Poole, Dorset, recently secured a significant long term dredging contract with Marina Developments Limited (MDL).

As a large international marina operator, MDL owns many marinas on the south coast of England, including Plymouth, Poole, Southampton, Hamble, Chichester and Ipswich.

Jenkins Marine has signed the 3 year contract to provide maintenance dredging services for the Solent based sites, and surrounding areas.

MD Dan Jenkins commented: “ I am delighted that we have been successful in securing this new long term contract with MDL. We have worked for them several times over the last 15 years at various sites and have proved our worth that we can perform well .”

Earlier in 2019, the company completed a successful 20,000m³ dredging project for MDL at Woolverstone Marina near Ipswich.

The new contract is expected to require dredging of between 30,000m³ – 50,000m³ annually over the various sites.

Works are due to commence at Cobbs Quay Marina in Poole in early November 2019.

The 30m long backhoe dredger ‘Doreen Dorward’ complete with 50t long reach excavator will be used to work on the contract, along with two 300m³ capacity self propelled split hopper barges ‘Nab’ and ‘Needles’.
