Moyne River Dredging Kicks Off

Dredging operations on the Moyne River in Port Fairy, the Western District of Victoria, Australia, are set to begin today, September 17, the Victoria State Government said in its latest announcement.

It is expected that this dredging scheme will last approximately 45 days.

The area of work will start from the entrance breakwater to Martins Point, moving to specific areas on the eastern side of the inner port.

According to the Victorian Notice to Mariners, a dredger involved in the works will display day shapes in accordance with COLREGs Rule 27.

During the project, the dredger will be anchored overnight via wire cable.

Mariners are advised to navigate with caution in the vicinity of the dredging operations with attention to the exposed anchor winch lines and dredging pipes, the Notice stated.
