The State of Hawaii DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) has awarded a $680,880 contract to Goodfellow Bros., LLC to dredge the entrance channel of Kihei Boat Ramp in Maui.

The dredging is set to begin on July 1, 2019 with an estimated completion of November 4, 2019.

According to DLNR, DOBOR specifically set up the contract so that there will be no closures during the dredging. The contractor will open and close the silt curtains whenever operators ingress/egress the boat ramp.

The Kihei Boat Ramp turning basin and portion of the entrance channel will be dredged to a depth of 6 feet below the mean lower low water level.

The estimated total quantity of material is 4,500 cubic yards.

The dredged material will be stockpiled at the gravel parking area, and the dredged beach quality sand will be used for future beach nourishment at a location which will be determined later.
