Maintenance dredging work is moving forward at Canaveral Harbor, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Jacksonville District reported yesterday.

The project kicked off last month when the clamshell dredger Atlantic started dredging operations in the outer federal channel, said USACE.

The clamshell dredger Virginian, also owned by Norfolk Dredging Company, recently joined the project and is currently working in Trident Turning Basin.

According to the USACE’s latest announcement, a total of 805,000 cubic yards of material will be dredged from the channel when the project is complete.
