Tilbury Port Expansion Gets OK

The Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, has approved development plans for the expansion of the Port of Tilbury, on the River Thames at Tilbury in Essex, England.

Currie & Brown is providing project management, commercial management and procurement services on the Tilbury2 project.

Commenting the latest news, Peter Ward, commercial director at the Port of Tilbury, said: “We are very pleased to have the expertise of Currie & Brown to help us with the project management to create this new port for London and the South East. There is a lot to do over the next 12 months and we look forward to opening our new port, Tilbury2, in 2020.”

Tilbury2 is one of the main projects under the Port of Tilbury’s £1 billion 2012-2020 investment program.

The project involves the creation of a new port terminal at the former Tilbury Power Station site on the bank of the River Thames.

The works will include the improvement and extension of the river jetty, creation of a new roll-on/roll-off berth, creation of hard surfaced pavements, new and improved conveyors, etc.
