U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Project Management Branch, Deputy Branch Chief, Sheri Willey, gave a project update on February 26 at the Barker Flood Prevention Community Informational Meeting, held at the Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, Texas.

During the event, Willey informed more than 125 attendees on the status of Flood Risk Management Initiatives in the Metropolitan Houston Region to include information on projects funded by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 including Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries Resiliency Study and other ongoing construction and study efforts in the Houston area.

“As citizens, we must continually communicate with our government officials the need to build regional flood management infrastructure which will protect not only the citizens of the Greater Houston Area but also the state and federal economies,” Barker Flood Prevention, an advocacy group purposed to obtain immediate and substantial flood control for Barker Reservoir, stated in their announcement.

Barker Flood Prevention is a non-partisan volunteer group advocating flood management solutions for the Barker Reservoir watershed by coordinating with public agencies and elected officials, educating the community about flood management projects and policies, and encouraging timely implementation of effective projects.
