The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, has received an application for a Department of the Army permit for the RMV Riding Park Recurrent Maintenance Dredging project.

The proposed project is located within the city of San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, CA.

According to the applicant, the City of San Juan Capistrano, the project will involve sediment removal within the main stormwater channel that passes through RMV Riding Park for the purpose of ensuring adequate flood capacity of the channel.

The applicant is planning to use standard rubber tired excavators and bobcats to remove sediment, placing it in dump trucks for offsite disposal at a nearby landfill. The applicant has requested that the proposed work be authorized for a 10-year period.

The deadline for sending comments on the proposed project is March 17, 2019.
