Permanent repairs to the Lord Hill Levee on the Snohomish River upstream of the town of Snohomish, Washington, are now underway, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District.

The construction site will be approximately 1.5 miles upstream of the confluence with the Pilchuck River and south of the town of Snohomish.

Damage to the levee occurred during flood events in November 2017 when the Snohomish River exceeded flood stage. This year’s repair will cost approximately $411,000. Construction is expected to be complete by September 15, 2018.

The project will restore the levee to a 10-year level of flood protection in order to protect lives and property from subsequent flooding in the ensuing flood seasons. This will protect more than 4 square miles of rural agricultural, commercial, and residential properties as well as public infrastructure in the area.
