CPRA VIDEO: Lost Lake Marsh Scheme Moves Forward

Business & Finance

Containment dike construction is underway at Lost Lake Marsh Creation and Hydrologic Restoration project, Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) said in its latest announcement.

Once completed, this $32 million project will create or nourish 703 acres of marsh and 30,000 linear feet of terraces, and rehabilitate five water control structures.

Marsh will be created between Lake Pagie and Bayou DeCade, north of Bayou DeCade, and along the northwestern Lost Lake shoreline. Marsh creation will restore/protect some key features of structural framework within the area, said CPRA.

Borrow material will be taken from within Lost Lake and pumped via a hydraulic dredge into the marsh creation sites. In addition, terraces will be constructed to reduce fetch in an area of deteriorated marsh north of Bayou DeCade.
