Beach Recharge Works at Eastoke

Business & Finance

Since the previous timber maintenance works at the Eastoke Frontage, further damage has been identified to the structure, announced the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP).

ESCP said that they will begin timber maintenance on the groynes and the sloping timber revetment in front of the Coastguard Station during the week commencing 15th January 2018.

The repairs will take place on a number of groynes along the length of the Eastoke frontage and will involve the replacement and refurbishment of the planks on the structures, as well as some of the vertical piles on the groynes.

ESCP will also be reinstating some top marks on the end of some timber structures where they have been damaged during storm weather.

The contractor for the works, Earlcoate Construction Ltd., will be using the Havant Borough Council compound on Southwood Road to store their materials and equipment for the duration of the works.

Alongside these timber maintenance works, ESCP will also be carrying out beach management works on the Eastoke beach following winter storm events.

It is anticipated that these works will take approximately 4 weeks.
