Business & Finance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, has released the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Port of Gulfport Expansion Project for 30-day public and agency review.

According to USACE, the ROD details the Corps of Engineers’ decision on all of the issues discussed in the Final Environmental Impact Statement, including the environmental impacts associated with the project.

The project is expected to impact approximately 282 acres of estuarine mud and sand bottom in the Mississippi Sound, which will be dredged and/or filled for the construction of wharfs, bulkheads, terminal facilities, container storage areas, intermodal container transfer facilities, and construction of a breakwater.

An online version of the ROD will be available online beginning November 29.
