Texarkana Dredging Project on Schedule

Business & Finance

The lake at Spring Lake Park became the subject of a multi-week dredging project to improve the overall health of the lake as well as the appearance of the outer bank, the City of Texarkana, Texas, said in their latest announcement.

The project, conducted by Tatum Excavating Co., was funded by the Capital Improvement Plan.

Wildlife that lived within the lake were identified, counted and moved to a pre-approved location that would mimic the habitat they had been living in. This strategy was employed to minimize the stress of the relocation on all organisms.

Once the lake was drained and wildlife relocated, construction crews began to remove sediment that had settled on the bottom of the lake.

The lake will be approximately 10 feet deep upon completion, the city stated.

Despite some heavy rains, the project is still on schedule.
