MBTL: Final Stretch of Permitting for Columbia River Terminal

Business & Finance

After 10 public meetings across the state, Millennium Bulk Terminals Longview (MBTL) is moving into the final stretch of the permitting for their coal export terminal in Cowlitz County along the Columbia River.

MBTL submitted its Shorelines permit application for the coal export terminal on February 22, 2012. These permits are needed for the building of the docks and dredging of the berth pocket.

Over twenty local, state and federal permits will be needed, they stated.

“The Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) are the documents that inform regulatory agencies of the details of our project and they will utilize those studies when issuing permits,” MBTL said in its release.

Following the publication of the Final EIS from the county and the state, MBTL filed the Critical Areas Permit application to Cowlitz County on May 22, 2017.
