Dredging Meeting in Selbyville Takes Place Today

Business & Finance

A community meeting to discuss dredging of local Sussex County waterways will be held at the Selbyville Fire Hall in Selbyville, DE, today from 7 to 8:30 pm.

The meeting is sponsored by State Senator Gerald Hocker and State Representatives Ron Gray and Rich Collins.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) officials will be on hand to answer questions about the schedule and priority list for dredging projects of local waterways in the next few years.

“Constituents are invited to join the legislators and members of DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship to hear about the department’s schedule and priority list for dredging, followed by a question-and-answer period,” the official release stated.

A new law that was enacted last year increases boat registration fees to generate about $1.3-million annually to help finance waterways’ maintenance – covering about one third of the annual cost of the work.
