Damietta Port to Build New Terminal

Business & Finance

Egypt’s Damietta Port and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority last week signed a cooperation protocol for the construction of a new multi-purpose terminal.

According to the DPA Chairman, AD./ Ayman Saleh, the new terminal will have a depth of 17m, berths 630m long, and back area of 75,000m².

Saleh also said that the construction of the terminal will be completed in 18 months.

The price tag for the construction of the new multi-purpose facilities will be around $77 million.

Saleh added that this move comes in conjunction with other expansion plans for constant improvements in the service quality, particularly after deepening and dredging operations in early 2016, which led to an increase in port operation rates in terms of vessel traffic, incoming and outgoing cargo traffic and port container handling.
