Kuantan Port Consortium (KPC) has released a video about the development of the port’s New Deep Water Terminal.

The Kuantan Port New Deep Water Terminal, a private public partnership project between the Government of Malaysia and Kuantan Port Consortium, was approved in June 2015. The new terminal will be developed in two phases with a total cost of approximately $808 million.

The development includes dredging of the harbor basin and navigational channel, reclamation works, construction of new berths and cargo storage yards as well as provision of infrastructure facilities and utilities associated with port operations.

When completed, the Phase 1A of the project will deliver a basin with the depth of 16 meters, 400 meters berth and 20 hectares of cargo yard adjacent to it to accommodate conventional ships and cargoes. The 400 meters bulk terminal is targeted to be operated by early 2018.

The construction works on the Phase 1B with a basin depth of 16 meters consisting of 600 meters berth and 25 hectares dry bulk yard is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2018.
