Contractors working at the Lake Oroville Spillway continue to remove sediment and debris below the spillway.

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) has just released this video update on the operations.

Crews working on widening the channel at the base of the main spillway have made significant progress towards the goal of creating enough space to allow Hyatt Power Plant to operate at full capacity, reported DWR.

So far, approximately 517,000 cubic yards of the estimated 1.7 million cubic yards of debris have been removed.

According to DWR, work will continue 24 hours per day on the area below the emergency spillway.
