The four-phase project began in September 2011 to provide channel and site improvements at the former Sears Building site, modify the Beaver Creek Dam inlet, widen the channel near 6th Street, and to improve the channel and modify the bridge near 8th Street.

Lt. Col. Stephen Murphy, Nashville District commander; Mayor Chad Keen of Bristol, Tenn.; Mayor Bill Hartley of Bristol, Va.; and James Bryant, Senior program manager within Tennessee Valley Authority’s Dam Safety program; are the keynote speakers at the completion ceremony.
