Dredging at Bastion Point Ocean Access Starts

Business & Finance

Dredging operations, aimed to remove shoaling in the approach channel to the Bastion Point Ocean Access boat ramp in Mallacoota, have officially started, the Gippsland Ports said in latest announcement.

East Gippsland Shire are mobilizing land based excavation plant and their cutter suction dredger to carry out dredging operations for approximately two weeks commencing on Tuesday, 9th August, through to Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016.

This dredging project includes the mobilization of plant and equipment to the boat ramp site and lower car park.

Dredging pipework will extend from the excavation site to the spoil discharge ground on the western intertidal zone.

East Gippsland Shire will monitor the dredging progress and open a single boat ramp lane when access is reinstated to accommodate vessel launching and retrieval while dredging operations take place.
