Perth & Kinross: Funding for Flood Schemes Welcomed

Business & Finance

Councillor Ian Miller, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, has welcomed the announcement of the first tranche of grant funding from the Scottish Government towards the development of flood prevention schemes in the Perth & Kinross Council area over the next 6 years.

The first instalment of the total grant of £18.06 million is £963,000, the majority of which will be allocated towards developing schemes in Comrie, Milnathort, South Kinross and Scone.

Councillor Ian Miller said: “The increase in frequency of recent flooding events have been a source of great concern for affected residents across Perth and Kinross, I therefore warmly welcome the confirmation of this funding which enhanced the provision for flooding we have already allocated in our Capital Plan.”

The funding, which will be received in a series of installments over the next few years, equates to 80% of the estimated cost of developing the four schemes and investigating flood protection measures in other areas of the Council.
