Windang to Get New Seawall

Business & Finance

Construction of a new seawall at Judbooley Reserve, Windang, is due to begin at the end of this month, according to the Wollongong City Council.

Work will be completed in sections to minimize the impact on the wharf and the beach area and is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year, subject to weather, tides and coastal conditions.

The wharf will be subject to periods of closure while construction works are underway and will be reopened to public access as soon as it is safe to do so, the Council said.

Councillors agreed to award a $500,000 tender for Dynamic Civil Pty Ltd to construct the seawall and rock wall, the Illawarra Mercury reports.

Sedimentation control barriers will be placed in the water, around the seawalls, to protect the aquatic environment during construction.
