Dare County to Approve Beach Nourishment Bids

Business & Finance

The Dare County Board of Commissioners will meet on March 17 to review and approve bids received from dredge contractors.

The bids are for the beach nourishment project that encompasses the Town of Duck, Town of Kitty Hawk and Town of Kill Devil Hills.

Four bids were opened on March 8th and Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD) has been identified as the lowest responsible bidder.

The GLDD bid of approximately $38.6 million is around $4.9 million under the budget with work scheduled to begin in April 2017.

This is the second time that this project has been bid. The first round of bids were rejected because they exceeded budget by almost $5 million.

The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 AM in the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo.
