New DRAGFLOW Dredger for Chile

Business & Finance

The new DRAGFLOW Amphibious Dredger (DRM85/160E22) was sold by their Chilean distributor Jacol to a mining company based in the north of Chile.

The machine will work in a tailing pond near a mine in the Atacama Desert.

The purpose of this project is to pump back to the mine and to reprocess the old tailings discharged for many years.

Since the water level in these ponds could be variable and usually less than half meter, the costumer decided to go for an amphibious dredger.

With the two lateral tracked floaters, this dredger can move on the ground like standard earth moving machine and the additional central floaters allow it to float on the water surface with high stability like the standard DRAGFLOW dredgers.

Furthermore, the machine can work in halfway conditions like muddy and soft soils, shallow waters and swamps.

The dredger is equipped with:

  • Diesel engine (260 Kw) running the hydraulic power pack;
  • Dredging unit composed by DRAGFLOW HY85/160 plus two cutters EXHY20;
  • Jet Ring System with high-pressure water jets helping the pump in the driest dredging conditions.
