A few days ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District held a meeting discussing upcoming Knapps Narrows dredging with the public.

During the meeting, which was held Monday, August 24th 2015, at the Tilghman Island Fire Station, the District Project Manager Danielle Szimanski presented information about a proposed placement site for material to be dredged as part of upcoming maintenance dredging activities scheduled for the Knapps Narrows navigation channel.

The proposed work consists of dredging the Knapps Narrows to its authorized depth of 9 feet (MLLW) and a width of 75 feet. USACE plans to hydraulically dredge approximately 100,000 cubic yards of material.

According to the Corps, the contract for dredging work will be awarded later this year with the completion scheduled for early 2016.
