Picture of the Day: Ocean City Replenishment

Business & Finance

Dredging and massive beach replenishment operations continue on the southern end of Ocean City, NJ.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers together with the contractor, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, are building a dune and berm system to reduce the risk of future storm damages.

The Dredge Liberty Island is once again back in action following what turned out to be an 11-week repair job in Norfolk, Va.

During the project, Ocean City will receive approximately 1.6 million cubic yards of sand on approximately 2.6 miles of beach from 36th Street to 59th Street. The project is being overseen by USACE and is 100 % federally funded at a total cost of $ 57 million.
