Dutch Minister for Infrastructure and Environment Melanie Schultz van Haegen and her delegation visited today the Urban Dredging Demonstration Project (UDDP).

This cleanup program is being implemented under the partnership of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) and Vitens Evides International (VEI).

The equipment involved in the cleaning work includes floating bulldozers, excavators and micro-bulldozers.

This scheme, launched in 2014, is strongly focused on improving the operations of Dhaka WASA by introducing cost and time effective dredging methods that will allow DWASA to continue cleaning other culverts and canals in the area.

Dhaka WASA will continue this cleanup program for the next 10 years to free the city from water congestion.
