Construction works on a multi-billion dollar New Suez Canal project, which will expand the existing Suez Canal, are nearing its completion.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said two days ago that dry digging in the canal is 100 percent completed while dredging work is 65 percent finished.

The New Suez Canal project will be inaugurated on August 6 in the presence of a number of world leaders and heads of state, Sisi added.
