Koninklijke Smals, a Dutch company involved in hydraulic and civil-engineering works, has released a video about their environmental dredging project in Delfzijl.

This dredging program included removal of mercury contaminated silt from Eemskanaal and Oosterhornkanaal.

To accomplish this task, Smals used their self propelled grab dredger Staaij, equipped with horizontal closing grab.

The dredged material, covered with water to avoid contamination, was transported by barges to a spoil depot.
