Wrightsville Beach renourishment project is threatened by the upcoming Tropical storm Arthur, according to city officials.
WWAY3 news channel reported that the $9 million worth contract, which provided around 900,000 cubic yards of sand to the beach, is expected to act as protection from the storm.
Wrightsville Beach Town Manager Tim Owens said: “We hope the project stays in place.”
Fox News informed that the storm’s maximum sustained winds late Wednesday were near 70 mph, however, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said Arthur was expected to strengthen and become a hurricane.
