Watermaster Machine to Dredge Dagupan Waterways

The City Government of Dagupan received P3 million from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday as performance challenge fund (PCF).

The check corresponding to this amount was handed by Rhoderick Dawis, chief of DILG in Dagupan City, to Mayor Belen Fernandez during the flag raising ceremony attended by City Government officials and employees.

This money will be used for the construction of a drainage system in barangay Lucao, and will be complemented by another P3 million from the City Government which will also be used to upgrade a road in that barangay.

Meanwhile, the mayor revealed some other projects slated in the city to help address the flooding problems.

Among these is the dredging of the city’s shallow rivers which will be done with the lending of a brand new dredging machine, Watermaster II, of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to the City Government for three months.

The fuel for this dredging machine, plus two other dredging machines now already in the city, will be shouldered by the National Government.
